2677 guarded] Clutton-Brock (1922, p. 380) denies that Hamlet is under arrest. He quotes 2716-7, where Hamlet precedes the others; the king had not told Rosencrantz to arrest Hamlet (2624), and the king explains to Laertes why he could not be arrested (3025).
