2417 wring] Delius (ed. 1854): “to wring = drücken, pressen, wird sowohl von Händen wie von Herzen gebraucht, entspricht aber nur in ersterer Anwendung unserm "ringen.’” [to wring means to squeeze or press and is used in reference to hands as well as hearts. It corresponds only in the former reference to the German word ringen (wrestle, struggle).
