219 Cor. Vo.] Wilson (1934, p. 187) declares that the Q2 variant is Sh.’s intention, a less significant one than that found in, e.g., 127 (see above). Other insig. ones are at 802, 1900, 2141. “ . . . [W]hen prefixes differ, it is almost invariably a dramatic gain to follow Q2.” He gives as examples several already noted: 30, 801, 2746 (this last motivated by Globe management’s [of which Sh. was part] wanting to eliminate a speaking part.

Ed. note: One person might say "we" to refer to himself and his partner, and F1 could have had "Both" as a SP (as in 1313) or a turnover of the last word of the line to accommodate two abbreviated SPs, if that’s what the compositor had in front of him.

219 Cor. Vo. ] Thompson & Taylor (ed. 2006): “F attributes this line to Voltemand alone and Q1 to ’Gent’, but we occurs in all three texts, perhaps indicating that both ambassadors speak together, though this usually seems awkward in performance and we could merely be inclusive.”
