1717 Corson (1874, p. 24): “That Flesh is heyre too? ’Tis F. That flesh is heir to, ’tis C. The punctuation of the F. is preferable. After the reflection that death is no more than sleep, the question arises in Hamlet’s mind as to whether by a sleep we shall end the heart-ache, and the thousand natural shocks that flesh is heir to. On which he reflects, ’Tis a consummation Devoutly to be wish’d.’
