2274 your commission] Moberly (ed. 1870): “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are therefore privy to the traitorous scheme for killing Hamlet in England.”

1885 macd
macd ≈ rug; xrefs.
2274-6 MacDonald (ed. 1885): “He had, it would appear, taken them into his confidence in the business; they knew what was to be in their commission, and were thorough traitors to Hamlet. See [3.1.169 (1826)] and [3.4.200 (2576)].
macd: xref.
2274 dispatch] MacDonald (ed. 1885): “get ready.” See n. [3.4.24 (2404)].

2274 Deighton (ed. 1891): “I will at once make out the commission which you are to take to England. It does not seem to follow at all that Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are privy to the traitorous scheme for killing Hamlet in England. That he was to be got out of the way, they of course knew ; but the king would hardly be likely to confide to his agents what was to be done with him when thus out of the way.”
1904 ver

2274 your commission] Verity (ed. 1904): “See [5.2.17, 18, 32 (3517, 3518, 3533)]. The line has been taken by some as proof that Rosencrantz and Guildenstern “are privy to the traitorous scheme” against Hamlet. But the inference is not warranted, and we find later that the King’s instructions to his English vassal-ally were conveyed in a sealed document, the contents of which would be probably unknown to the bearers.”
1931 crg1
crg1 ≈ macd (def. only)
2274 dispatch] Craig (ed. 1931): “prepare.”
1939 kit2
kit2 ≈ dtn; xrefs.
2274 your commission] Kittredge (ed. 1939): “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are to ‘bear the mandate’ [3.4.202-4 (2577+1-2577+3)]—a sealed letter addressed to the King of England ordering him to put Hamlet to death [[4.3.58-68 (2723-33)]; [5.2.19-25 (3519-26)]]. This is what is called ‘their grand commission’ [5.2.16 (3516)]. Whether King Claudius tells them its contents we are nowhere informed. Probably not; for he is secretive by disposition, and now, if ever, secrecy is the best policy. The audience does not learn what the mandate prescribes until [5.2.58-65 (2723-30)]. Ostensibly Hamlet is sent as ambassador [3.1.169-70 (1826-7)]; 4.6.10-2 (2981-3)]. His own suspicions are vague [3.4.202ff. (2577+1ff.)].; 4.3.48-9 (2712-3)].”

2274 your commission] Spencer (ed. 1980): “(the letters sealed and the mandate (3.4.202-4 [2577+1-2577+3]). It is nowhere made clear that Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are aware of the murderous instructions given in the letters).”

2274 dispatch] Spencer (ed. 1980): “quickly prepare (for you to take).”
1982 ard2
ard2: Bradley, French; xrefs.
2274-5 Jenkins (ed. 1982): “The King is proceeding with the plan first formed at 1826. But there is no indication, as Bradley (p. 171) and others have supposed, that the plan as yet includes the arrangements for Hamlet’s death which we hear of at [4.3.63-5 (2728-30)], [5.2.18-25 (3518-25)]. See A.L. French, ES, XLVII, 28-30.”

2274 commission] Thompson & Taylor (ed. 2006): “presumably the grand commission Hamlet describes intercepting at 5.2.18 [3518]; it is never made absolutely clear whether Rosencrantz and Guildenstern know they are conducting Hamlet not just to exile but to his death.”
