DRB Chapter 1 EB

1.1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother: to brother, unto the church of God that which is at Corinth, with all the saints that which are in all Achaia:

1.2 Grace unto be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

1.3 Blessed be God, even the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort. comfort;

1.4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation; tribulation, that we also may be able to comfort them who which are in all distress, any trouble, by the exhortation comfort wherewith we also ourselves are exhorted by comforted of God.

1.5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us: us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ doth our comfort abound. Christ.

1.6 Now whether we be in tribulation, it is for your exhortation and salvation: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation: or And whether we be exhorted, afflicted, it is for your exhortation consolation and salvation, which worketh is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer. suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.

1.7 That And our hope for of you may be steadfast: knowing is stedfast, knowing, that as you ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall you ye be also of the consolation.

1.8 For we would not not, brethren, have you ignorant,brethren, ignorant of our tribulation, trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure measure, above our strength, so insomuch that we were weary despaired even of life. life:

1.9 But we had in ourselves the answer sentence of death, death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who which raiseth the dead. dead:

1.10 Who hath delivered and doth deliver us out of from so great dangers: a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet also deliver us. us;

1.11 You Ye also helping withal in together by prayer for us: us, that for this the gift obtained for us, bestowed upon us by the means of many persons, persons thanks may be given by many in on our behalf.

1.12 For our glory rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity of heart and sincerity of God, and godly sincerity, not in carnal with fleshly wisdom, but in by the grace of God, we have conversed had our conversation in this world: the world, and more abundantly towards you. to you-ward.

1.13 For we write no none other things to you unto you, than what you have ye read or acknowledge; and known. And I hope that you trust ye shall know unto acknowledge even to the end: end;

1.14 As also you ye have known acknowledged us in part, that we are your glory, rejoicing, even as you ye also are ours, our's in the day of our the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus.

1.15 And in this confidence I had a mind was minded to come to unto you before, that you ye might have a second grace: benefit;

1.16 And to pass by you into Macedonia, and again from Macedonia to come to again out of Macedonia unto you, and by of you to be brought on my way towards Judea. toward Judaea.

1.17 Whereas then When I therefore was thus minded, did I use lightness? Or, or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be with me, It is, yea yea, and It is not? nay nay?

1.18 But as God is faithful, for true, our preaching which was to you, word toward you was not, It is, not yea and It is not. nay.

1.19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me, me and Sylvanus, Silvanus and Timothy, Timotheus, was not, It is not yea and It is not, but, It is, was nay, but in him. him was yea.

1.20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him, It is; therefore also by him, amen to God, him Amen, unto our glory. the glory of God by us.

1.21 Now he that confirmeth which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and that hath anointed us, is God: God;

1.22 Who also hath also sealed us, and given the pledge earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

1.23 But Moreover I call God to witness for a record upon my soul, that to spare you, you I came not any more to Corinth: not because as yet unto Corinth.

1.24 Not for that we exercise have dominion over your faith: faith, but we are helpers of your joy: for in by faith you ye stand.

DRB Chapter 2 EB

2.1 But I determined this with myself, that I would not to come again to you again in sorrow. heaviness.

2.2 For if I make you sorrowful, sorry, who is he then that can make maketh me glad, but the same who which is made sorrowful sorry by me?

2.3 And I wrote this same to you; that I may not, unto you, lest, when I come, came, I should have sorrow upon sorrow, from them of whom I ought to rejoice: rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.

2.4 For out of much affliction and anguish of heart, heart I wrote to unto you with many tears: tears; not that you ye should be made sorrowful: grieved, but that you ye might know the charity love which I have more abundantly towards unto you.

2.5 And But if any one have caused grief, he hath not grieved me; me, but in part, part: that I may not burden overcharge you all.

2.6 To him who is Sufficient to such a one, this rebuke man is sufficient, this punishment, which is given by many: was inflicted of many.

2.7 So that on the contrary, you should contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.

2.8 Wherefore, Wherefore I beseech you, that you that ye would confirm your charity towards love toward him.

2.9 For to this end also did I write, that I may might know the experiment proof of you, whether you ye be obedient in all things.

2.10 And to To whom you have pardoned ye forgive any thing, I also. For, what I have pardoned, forgive also: for if I have pardoned forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes have forgave I done it in the person of Christ. Christ;

2.11 That we be not overreached by Satan. For Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

2.12 And Furthermore, when I was come came to Troas for the gospel of Christ, to preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened unto me in of the Lord,

2.13 I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother; brother: but bidding them farewell, taking my leave of them, I went from thence into Macedonia.

2.14 Now thanks be to unto God, who which always maketh causeth us to triumph in Christ Jesus, Christ, and manifesteth maketh manifest the odour savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

2.15 For we are the good odour of Christ unto God, God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish. perish:

2.16 To the one indeed we are the odour savour of death unto death: but death; and to the others other the odour savour of life unto life. And for these things who is so sufficient? sufficient for these things?

2.17 For we are not as many, adulterating which corrupt the word of God; God: but with as of sincerity, but as from God, before of God, in Christ the sight of God speak we speak. in Christ.

DRB Chapter 3 EB

3.1 Do we begin again to commend ourselves? Or do we or need (as we, as some do) others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?

3.2 You Ye are our epistle, epistle written in our hearts, which is known and read by of all men:

3.3 Being manifested, that you Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ, Christ ministered by us, and written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in the fleshly fleshy tables of the heart.

3.4 And such confidence trust have we have, through Christ, towards God. Christ to God-ward:

3.5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing of ourselves, as of ourselves: ourselves; but our sufficiency is from God. of God;

3.6 Who also hath made us fit able ministers of the new testament, testament; not in of the letter, but in of the spirit. For spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit quickeneth. giveth life.

3.7 Now But if the ministration of death, written and engraven with letters upon in stones, was glorious; glorious, so that the children of Israel could not steadfastly stedfastly behold the face of Moses, Moses for the glory of his countenance, countenance; which is made void: glory was to be done away:

3.8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather in glory? glorious?

3.9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of justice aboundeth righteousness exceed in glory.

3.10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this part was not glorified, respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.

3.11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is in glory. glorious.

3.12 Having therefore Seeing then that we have such hope, we use much confidence: great plainness of speech:

3.13 And not as Moses Moses, which put a veil upon vail over his face, that the children of Israel might could not steadfastly stedfastly look on to the face end of that which is made void. abolished:

3.14 But their senses minds were made dull. For, blinded: for until this present day, day remaineth the selfsame veil, same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament, remaineth not taken testament; which vail is done away (because in Christ it is made void). Christ.

3.15 But even until unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil vail is upon their heart.

3.16 But Nevertheless when they it shall be converted turn to the Lord, the veil vail shall be taken away.

3.17 Now the Lord is a Spirit. And that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

3.18 But we all all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord with open face, Lord, are transformed changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

DRB Chapter 4 EB

4.1 Therefore, Therefore seeing we have this ministration, according ministry, as we have obtained received mercy, we faint not;

4.2 But we renounce have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor adulterating handling the word of God; God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience, conscience in the sight of God.

4.3 And But if our gospel be also hid, it is hid to them that are lost, lost:

4.4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of unbelievers, that them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine unto them.

4.5 For we preach not ourselves, but Jesus Christ our Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants through Jesus. for Jesus' sake.

4.6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God, God in the face of Christ Jesus. Jesus Christ.

4.7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency may be of the power may be of God, and not of us.

4.8 In all things we suffer tribulation, but We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are straitened, perplexed, but are not destitute; in despair;

4.9 We suffer persecution, Persecuted, but are not forsaken; we are cast down, but we perish not: not destroyed;

4.10 Always bearing about in our the body the mortification dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may might be made manifest in our bodies. body.

4.11 For we who which live are always alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake; sake, that the life also of Jesus may might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

4.12 So then death worketh in us, but life in you.

4.13 But We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written: written, I believed, for which cause I and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, for which cause we speak also: and therefore speak;

4.14 Knowing that he who which raised up Jesus, will the Lord Jesus shall raise us up us also with by Jesus, and place shall present us with you.

4.15 For all things are for your sakes; sakes, that the abundant grace abounding might through many, may abound in the thanksgiving unto of many redound to the glory of God.

4.16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man is corrupted, perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

4.17 For that our light affliction, which is at present momentary and light of our tribulation, but for a moment, worketh for us above measure exceedingly an a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. glory;

4.18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For seen: for the things which are seen, seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen, seen are eternal.

DRB Chapter 5 EB

5.1 For we know, know that if our earthly house of this habitation be tabernacle were dissolved, that we have a building of God, a an house not made with hands, eternal in heaven. the heavens.

5.2 For in this also we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our habitation that house which is from heaven. heaven:

5.3 Yet If so be that being clothed we shall not be found clothed, not naked.

5.4 For we also, who that are in this tabernacle, tabernacle do groan, being burthened; because burdened: not for that we would not be unclothed, but clothed upon, that that which is mortal may mortality might be swallowed up by of life.

5.5 Now he that maketh hath wrought us for this very thing, the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the pledge earnest of the Spirit.

5.6 Therefore having we are always confidence, confident, knowing that, while whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord. Lord:

5.7 (For we walk by faith, and not by sight.) sight:)

5.8 But we We are confident, I say, and have a good will willing rather to be absent rather from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

5.9 And therefore Wherefore we labour, that, whether absent present or present, to please absent, we may be accepted of him.

5.10 For we must all be manifested appear before the judgement judgment seat of Christ, Christ; that every one may receive the proper things of the done in his body, according as to that he hath done, whether it be good or evil. bad.

5.11 Knowing therefore the fear terror of the Lord, we use persuasion to persuade men; but to God we are manifest. And made manifest unto God; and I trust also that are made manifest in your consciences we are manifest. consciences.

5.12 We For we commend not ourselves again to unto you, but give you occasion to glory in on our behalf; behalf, that you ye may have somewhat to answer them who which glory in face, appearance, and not in heart.

5.13 For whether we be transported in mind, beside ourselves, it is to God; God: or whether we be sober, it is for you. your cause.

5.14 For the charity love of Christ presseth us: judging this, constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then all were dead. all dead:

5.15 And Christ that he died for all; all, that they also who live, may which live should not now henceforth live to unto themselves, but unto him who which died for them, and rose again.

5.16 Wherefore henceforth, we henceforth know we no man according to after the flesh. And if flesh: yea, though we have known Christ according to after the flesh; but flesh, yet now we henceforth know we him so no longer. more.

5.17 If then Therefore if any man be in Christ Christ, he is a new creature, the creature: old things are passed away, behold away; behold, all things are made become new.

5.18 But And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Christ; Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation. reconciliation;

5.19 For To wit, that God indeed was in Christ, reconciling the world to unto himself, not imputing to them their sins; trespasses unto them; and he hath placed in committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

5.20 For Christ therefore Now then we are ambassadors, God ambassadors for Christ, as it were exhorting though God did beseech you by us. For Christ, us: we beseech you, pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

5.21 Him, who knew no sin, For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the justice righteousness of God in him.

DRB Chapter 6 EB

6.1 And we helping do exhort you, that We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.

6.2 For (For he saith: In an accepted time have saith, I have heard thee; thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I helped thee. Behold, succoured thee: behold, now is the acceptable accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. salvation.)

6.3 Giving no offence to in any man, thing, that our the ministry be not blamed:

6.4 But in all things let us exhibit approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in tribulation, afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,

6.5 In stripes, in prisons, imprisonments, in seditions, tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings, fastings;

6.6 In chastity, in By pureness, by knowledge, in by longsuffering, in sweetness, in by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, in charity by love unfeigned,

6.7 In By the word of truth, in by the power of God; God, by the armour of justice righteousness on the right hand and on the left; left,

6.8 By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report; report: as deceivers, and yet true; as unknown, and yet known;

6.9 As dying, unknown, and behold yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastised, chastened, and not killed;

6.10 As sorrowful, yet always alway rejoicing; as needy, poor, yet enriching many; making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

6.11 Our O ye Corinthians, our mouth is open to unto you, O ye Corinthians, our heart is enlarged.

6.12 You Ye are not straitened in us, but ye are straitened in your own bowels you are straitened. bowels.

6.13 But having Now for a recompence in the same recompense, same, (I speak as to unto my children,) be you ye also enlarged.

6.14 Bear Be ye not the yoke unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For unbelievers: for what participation fellowship hath justice righteousness with injustice? Or unrighteousness? and what fellowship communion hath light with darkness?

6.15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or or what part hath the faithful he that believeth with the unbeliever? an infidel?

6.16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For you for ye are the temple of the living God; as God saith: hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk among in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

6.17 Wherefore, Go Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing: thing; and I will receive you.

6.18 And I will receive you; and I will be a Father to you; unto you, and you ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

DRB Chapter 7 EB

7.1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement filthiness of the flesh and of the spirit, perfecting sactification holiness in the fear of God.

7.2 Receive us. We us; we have injured wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have overreached defrauded no man.

7.3 I speak not this to your condemnation. For we condemn you: for I have said before, that you ye are in our hearts, hearts to die together, and to live together. with you.

7.4 Great is my confidence for boldness of speech toward you, great is my glorying for you. of you: I am filled with comfort: comfort, I exceedingly abound with joy am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation.

7.5 For also For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we suffered all tribulation; combats without, fears within. were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.

7.6 But Nevertheless God, who that comforteth the humble, those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus. Titus;

7.7 And not by his coming only, but also by the consolation, consolation wherewith he was comforted in you, relating to when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your zeal for me, fervent mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more.

7.8 For although though I made you sorrowful by my epistle, sorry with a letter, I do not repent; and if repent, though I did repent, seeing repent: for I perceive that the same epistle (although hath made you sorry, though it were but for a time) did make you sorrowful; season.

7.9 Now I am glad: rejoice, not because you that ye were made sorrowful; sorry, but because you were made sorrowful unto penance. For you that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorrowful according to God, sorry after a godly manner, that you ye might suffer receive damage by us in nothing.

7.10 For the godly sorrow that is according to God worketh penance, steadfast unto salvation; repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

7.11 For behold this selfsame thing, that you were made sorrowful according to God, how great ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it worketh wrought in you; yea defence, yea you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea yea, what fear, yea yea, what vehement desire, yea yea, what zeal, yea revenge: in yea, what revenge! In all things you ye have shewed approved yourselves to be undefiled clear in the this matter.

7.12 Wherefore although Wherefore, though I wrote to unto you, I did it was not for his sake cause that I did had done the wrong, nor for him his cause that suffered it; wrong, but to manifest our carefulness that we have our care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you.

7.13 Before God: therefore Therefore we were comforted. But comforted in our consolation, we did your comfort: yea, and exceedingly the more abundantly rejoice joyed we for the joy of Titus, because his spirit was refreshed by you all.

7.14 And For if I have boasted any thing to him of you, I have am not been put to shame; ashamed; but as we have spoken spake all things to you in truth, even so also our boasting that was boasting, which I made to Titus before Titus, is found a truth.

7.15 And his bowels are inward affection is more abundantly towards you; remembering abundant toward you, whilst he remembereth the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling you have ye received him.

7.16 I rejoice therefore that in all things I have confidence in you. you in all things.

DRB Chapter 8 EB

8.1 Now we make known unto you, Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God, that hath been given in God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia. Macedonia;

8.2 That How that in much experience a great trial of tribulation, they have had affliction the abundance of joy; their joy and their very deep poverty hath abounded unto the riches of their simplicity. liberality.

8.3 For according to their power ( power, I bear them witness), record, yea, and beyond their power, power they were willing. willing of themselves;

8.4 With much entreaty begging of Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the grace gift, and communication take upon us the fellowship of the ministry that is done toward ministering to the saints.

8.5 And this they did, not as we hoped, but they first gave their own selves first to the Lord, then to and unto us by the will of God: God.

8.6 Insomuch, Insomuch that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so also he would also finish among in you this the same grace. grace also.

8.7 That Therefore, as in all things you ye abound in every thing, in faith, and word, utterance, and knowledge, and in all carefulness; moreover also diligence, and in your charity towards love to us, so see that ye abound in this grace also you may abound. also.

8.8 I speak not as commanding; by commandment, but by occasion of the carefulness forwardness of others, approving also and to prove the good disposition sincerity of your charity. love.

8.9 For you ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that being rich that, though he became poor, was rich, yet for your sakes; sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty you might be rich.

8.10 And herein I give my advice; advice: for this is profitable expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be willing, forward a year ago.

8.11 Now therefore perform ye it also in deed; the doing of it; that as your mind is forward there was a readiness to be willing, will, so it there may be a performance also to perform, out of that which you ye have.

8.12 For if the will there be forward, first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that which a man hath, and not according to that which he hath not.

8.13 For I mean not that others should other men be eased, and you burthened, but by an equality. ye burdened:

8.14 In But by an equality, that now at this present time let your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want, want: that there may be an equality, equality:

8.15 As it is written: written, He that had much, gathered much had nothing over; and he that had little, gathered little had no want. lack.

8.16 And But thanks be to God, who hath given which put the same carefulness for you in earnest care into the heart of Titus. Titus for you.

8.17 For indeed he accepted the exhortation; but being more careful, forward, of his own will accord he went unto you.

8.18 We And we have sent also with him the brother, whose praise is in the gospel through throughout all the churches. churches;

8.19 And not that only, but he who was also ordained by chosen of the churches companion of our travels, for to travel with us with this grace, which is administered by us, us to the glory of the same Lord, and our determined will: declaration of your ready mind:

8.20 Avoiding this, lest any that no man should blame us in this abundance which is administered by us. us:

8.21 For we forecast what may be good Providing for honest things, not only before God, in the sight of the Lord, but also before in the sight of men.

8.22 And we have sent with them our brother also, brother, whom we have often oftentimes proved diligent in many things; things, but now much more diligent, with much upon the great confidence which I have in you, you.

8.23 Either for Whether any do enquire of Titus, who he is my companion partner and fellow labourer towards you, fellowhelper concerning you: or our brethren, brethren be enquired of, they are the apostles messengers of the churches, and the glory of Christ.

8.24 Wherefore shew ye to them, in the sight of and before the churches, the evidence proof of your charity, love, and of our boasting on your behalf.

DRB Chapter 9 EB

9.1 For concerning as touching the ministry that is done towards ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write unto you. to you:

9.2 For I know the forwardness of your forward mind: mind, for which I boast of you to the Macedonians. That them of Macedonia, that Achaia also is was ready from the a year past, ago; and your emulation zeal hath provoked very many.

9.3 Now I Yet have I sent the brethren, that the thing which we boast lest our boasting of concerning you, you should be not made void in vain in this behalf, that (as behalf; that, as I have said) you said, ye may be ready:

9.4 Lest, when the Macedonians shall Lest haply if they of Macedonia come with me, and find you unprepared, we (not to (that we say not, ye) should be ashamed in this matter. same confident boasting.

9.5 Therefore I thought it necessary to desire exhort the brethren brethren, that they would go to you before, and prepare this blessing before promised, to unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, so as a blessing, matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness.

9.6 Now But this I say: say, He who which soweth sparingly, sparingly shall also reap sparingly: also sparingly; and he who which soweth in blessings, bountifully shall also reap blessings. also bountifully.

9.7 Every one man according as he hath determined purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not with sadness, grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

9.8 And God is able to make all grace abound in toward you; that ye always, ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work, work:

9.9 As (As it is written: written, He hath dispersed abroad, abroad; he hath given to the poor: his justice righteousness remaineth for ever.

9.10 And Now he that ministereth seed to the sower, will sower both give you minister bread to eat, for your food, and will multiply your seed, seed sown, and increase the growth of the fruits of your justice: righteousness;)

9.11 That being Being enriched in all things, you may abound unto every thing to all simplicity, bountifulness, which worketh causeth through us thanksgiving to God.

9.12 Because For the administration of this office doth service not only supply supplieth the want of the saints, but aboundeth is abundant also by many thanksgivings in the Lord, unto God;

9.13 By Whiles by the proof experiment of this ministry, glorifying ministration they glorify God for the obedience of your confession professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for the simplicity of your communicating liberal distribution unto them, and unto all. all men;

9.14 And in by their praying prayer for you, being desirous of you, because of which long after you for the excellent exceeding grace of God in you.

9.15 Thanks be to unto God for his unspeakable gift.

DRB Chapter 10 EB

10.1 Now I Paul myself beseech you, you by the mildness meekness and modesty gentleness of Christ, who in presence indeed am lowly base among you, but being absent, absent am bold toward you. you:

10.2 But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present, present with that confidence confidence, wherewith I am thought think to be bold, bold against some, who reckon which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.

10.3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to after the flesh. flesh:

10.4 For (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty to through God unto to the pulling down of fortifications, destroying counsels, strong holds;)

10.5 And Casting down imaginations, and every height high thing that exhalteth exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every understanding unto thought to the obedience of Christ;

10.6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience shall be is fulfilled.

10.8 For if also though I should boast somewhat more of our power, authority, which the Lord hath given us unto for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed. ashamed:

10.9 But that That I may not be thought seem as it were to if I would terrify you by epistles, letters.

10.10 (For For his epistles indeed, letters, say they, are weighty and strong; powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible,) contemptible.

10.11 Let such a an one think this, that that, such as we are in word by epistles, letters when we are absent, such also we will we be indeed also in deed when we are present.

10.12 For we dare not match, make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some, some that commend themselves; themselves: but we measure ourselves they measuring themselves by ourselves, themselves, and compare ourselves with ourselves. comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

10.13 But we will not glory beyond boast of things without our measure; measure, but according to the measure of the rule, rule which God hath measured distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.

10.14 For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as if though we reached not unto you. For you: for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ. Christ:

10.15 Not glorying beyond measure in boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men's labours; but having hope of hope, when your increasing faith, to faith is increased, that we shall be magnified in enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly; abundantly,

10.16 Yea, unto those places that are beyond you, to To preach the gospel, gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to glory boast in another man's rule, in those line of things that are made ready to our hand.

10.17 But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

10.18 For not he who that commendeth himself, himself is approved, but he, whom God the Lord commendeth.

DRB Chapter 11 EB

11.1 Would to God you ye could bear with some me a little of in my folly: but do and indeed bear with me.

11.2 For I am jealous of over you with the jealousy of God. For godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

11.3 But I fear lest, fear, lest by any means, as the serpent seduced beguiled Eve by through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted, and fall corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

11.4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Christ, Jesus, whom we have not preached; preached, or if you ye receive another Spirit, whom you spirit, which ye have not received; received, or another gospel gospel, which you ye have not received; you accepted, ye might well bear with him.

11.5 For I suppose that I have done nothing less than was not a whit behind the great very chiefest apostles.

11.6 For although But though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge; but in all things we have been throughly made manifest to you. among you in all things.

11.7 Or did Have I commit a fault, humbling myself, committed an offence in abasing myself that you ye might be exalted? Because exalted, because I have preached unto to you the gospel of God freely?

11.8 I have taken from robbed other churches, receiving taking wages of them for your ministry. them, to do you service.

11.9 And, And when I was present with you, and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was wanting lacking to me, me the brethren supplied who which came from Macedonia; Macedonia supplied: and in all things I have kept myself from being burthensome to burdensome unto you, and so I will I keep myself.

11.10 The As the truth of Christ is in me, that this glorying no man shall not be broken off in stop me of this boasting in the regions of Achaia.

11.11 Wherefore? Because because I love you not? God knoweth it. knoweth.

11.12 But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off the occasion from them that which desire occasion, occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.

11.13 For such false apostles are false apostles, deceitful workmen, workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

11.14 And no wonder: marvel; for Satan himself transformeth himself is transformed into an angel of light.

11.15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of justice, righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

11.16 I say again, (let Let no man think me to be foolish, otherwise take me a fool; if otherwise, yet as one foolish, a fool receive me, that I also may glory boast myself a little.) little.

11.17 That which I speak, I speak it not according to God, after the Lord, but as it were in foolishness, foolishly, in this matter confidence of glorying. boasting.

11.18 Seeing that many glory according to after the flesh, I will glory also.

11.19 For you gladly ye suffer the foolish; whereas fools gladly, seeing ye yourselves are wise.

11.20 For you suffer ye suffer, if a man bring you into bondage, if a man devour you, if a man take from of you, if a man be lifted up, exalt himself, if a man strike smite you on the face.

11.21 I speak according to dishonour, as if concerning reproach, as though we had been weak in this part. Wherein if weak. Howbeit whereinsoever any man dare is bold, (I speak foolishly), foolishly,) I dare am bold also.

11.22 They are Hebrews: Are they Hebrews? so am I. They are Israelites: Are they Israelites? so am I. They are Are they the seed of Abraham: Abraham? so am I.

11.23 They are the Are they ministers of Christ Christ? (I speak as one less wise): a fool) I am more; in many more labours, in prisons labours more frequently, abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths often. oft.

11.24 Of the Jews five times did received I receive forty stripes, stripes save one.

11.27 In labour weariness and painfulness, in much watchings, watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

11.28 Besides Beside those things which that are without: my daily instance, without, that which cometh upon me daily, the solicitude for care of all the churches.

11.29 Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who who is scandalized, offended, and I am not on fire? burn not?

11.30 If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things that which concern my infirmity. mine infirmities.

11.31 The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who which is blessed for ever, evermore, knoweth that I lie not.

11.32 At Damascus, In Damascus the governor of the nation under Aretas the king, guarded king kept the city of the Damascenes, Damascenes with a garrison, desirous to apprehend me. me:

11.33 And through a window in a basket was I let down by the wall, and so escaped his hands.

DRB Chapter 12 EB

12.1 If I must glory (it It is not expedient indeed): but for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.

12.2 I know knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago ago, (whether in the body, I know not, cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I know not; cannot tell: God knoweth), knoweth;) such a an one caught up to the third heaven.

12.3 And I know knew such a man man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I know not: cannot tell: God knoweth): knoweth;)

12.4 That How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard secret unspeakable words, which it is not granted to lawful for a man to utter.

12.5 For Of such an one I will glory; but for I glory: yet of myself I will glory nothing, not glory, but in my mine infirmities.

12.6 For though I should have a mind would desire to glory, I shall not be foolish; a fool; for I will say the truth. But truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth in me, me to be, or any thing that he heareth from of me.

12.7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the greatness abundance of the revelations should exalt me, revelations, there was given to me a sting of my thorn in the flesh, an angel the messenger of Satan, Satan to buffet me. me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

12.8 For which this thing thrice I besought the Lord, Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.

12.9 And he said to me: unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee; thee: for power my strength is made perfect in infirmity. Gladly weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may dwell in rest upon me.

12.10 For which cause Therefore I please myself take pleasure in my infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, distresses for Christ. For Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I powerful. strong.

12.11 I am become foolish: you a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me. For me: for I ought to have been commended by of you: for in nothing am I have no way come short of them that are above measure behind the very chiefest apostles, although though I be nothing.

12.12 Yet Truly the signs of my apostleship have been an apostle were wrought on you, among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.

12.13 For what is there that you have had less than the it wherein ye were inferior to other churches, but except it be that I myself was not burthensome burdensome to you? Pardon forgive me this injury. wrong.

12.14 Behold now Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burthensome unto you. For burdensome to you: for I seek not the things that are yours, your's but you. For neither ought you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.

12.15 But And I most gladly will very gladly spend and be spent myself for your souls; although loving you more, you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved less. loved.

12.16 But be it so: so, I did not burthen burden you: but nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you by with guile.

12.17 Did I overreach make a gain of you by any of them whom I sent to unto you?

12.18 I desired Titus, and I sent with him I sent a brother. Did Titus overreach make a gain of you? Did walked we not walk with in the same spirit? did walked we not in the same steps?

12.19 Of old, Again, think you ye that we excuse ourselves to unto you? We we speak before God in Christ; Christ: but we do all things, my dearly beloved, for your edification. edifying.

12.20 For I fear lest perhaps fear, lest, when I come come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found by unto you such as you ye would not. Lest perhaps contentions, not: lest there be debates, envyings, animosities, dissensions, detractions, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, seditions, be among you. tumults:

12.21 Lest again, And lest, when I come, come again, my God will humble me among you: you, and that I mourn shall bewail many of them that which have sinned before, already, and have not done penance for repented of the uncleanness, uncleanness and fornication, fornication and lasciviousness, that lasciviousness which they have committed.

DRB Chapter 13 EB

13.1 Behold, this This is the third time I am coming to you: you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word stand. be established.

13.2 I have told you before, and foretell, foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now absent, I write to them that sinned before, which heretofore have sinned, and to all the rest, that other, that, if I come again, I will not spare. spare:

13.3 Do you Since ye seek a proof of Christ that speaketh speaking in me, who towards you which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you? you.

13.4 For although though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him: him, but we shall live with him by the power of God towards toward you.

13.5 Try you own selves if you Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove ye yourselves. your own selves. Know you ye not your own selves, how that Christ Jesus Christ is in you, unless perhaps you except ye be reprobates?

13.6 But I trust that you ye shall know that we are not reprobates.

13.7 Now we I pray God, to God that you may ye do no evil, evil; not that we may should appear approved, but that you may ye should do that which is good, and that honest, though we may be as reprobates.

13.8 For we can do nothing against the truth; truth, but for the truth.

13.9 For we rejoice that are glad, when we are weak, and you ye are strong. This strong: and this also we pray for, wish, even your perfection.

13.10 Therefore I write these things, things being absent, that, lest being present, present I may not deal more severely, should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me unto to edification, and not unto to destruction.

13.11 For the rest, Finally, brethren, rejoice, be farewell. Be perfect, take exhortation, be of good comfort, be of one mind, have live in peace; and the God of peace and of love and peace shall be with you.

13.12 Salute Greet one another with a an holy kiss.

13.13 All the saints salute you.

13.14 The grace of our the Lord Jesus Christ, and the charity love of God, and the communication communion of the Holy Ghost Ghost, be with you all. Amen.
